WWSO21 ABRF 190638 IDQ20015 Australian Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre SATELLITE ANALYSIS BULLETIN Issued at 0638 UTC on 19 OCTOBER 2026 Tropical Cyclone Wati 01F 190600 UTC Located near 20.6S 157.8W Analysis based on: EIR and earlier vis/microwave imagery Latitude Detection Sum: 8 Longitude Detection Sum: 21 Dvorak analysis: T2.5/3.0/W1.0/24HRS STT:W0.5/6HRS Wati is weakening under strong northwesterly wind shear and cool SST (24C). Location unclear based on EIR and extrapolation from earlier AMSR3 microwave at 2344UTC. Some model positioning considered. No other recent microwave or scatterometry to assist. Centre northwest of deep convection in line with shear environment. Dvorak based upon shear pattern within ~0.5. DT in the range of 2.5-3.0. Weakening 24h trend, MET=2.0 but PAT adjustment to 2.5. FT=2.5 and CI held higher at 3.0. Intensity estimated at 45kn. Gales asymmetric estimated NE/SE/SW/NW at 100/90/60/50 nm, inferred from model and earlier scat, albeit limited. No further bulletins will be issued for this system as it is not likely to have tropical characteristics within 24h.
